Product details
The Sabro Electric + Gas Geyser 25 Gallons is a dual-power storage water heater priced at Rs. 43,899 in Pakistan. A gas burner sits below the tank and an electric heating element sits inside it, both heating the same 25 gallons of water. You use whichever fuel is available — which in practice means gas for most of the year and electricity through the weeks when gas pressure is too low to be useful.
At 25 gallons it is the most commonly chosen size for a standard Pakistani family home, and the most affordable model in Sabro’s electric-plus-gas range.
Gas-only geyser or electric + gas?
Most buyers at this size are replacing a gas-only geyser, so this is the decision that actually matters:
| Gas-only geyser | Sabro Electric + Gas | |
|---|---|---|
| Heating sources | Gas burner only | Gas burner + electric element |
| Winter low gas pressure | Heats slowly or not at all | Switch to electric, unaffected |
| Gas supply cut or shut off | No hot water | Electric element still works |
| Running cost | Lowest | Same as gas-only when run on gas |
| Upfront price | Lower | Higher |
A gas-only geyser is cheaper to buy and just as cheap to run — for nine or ten months of the year. The problem is the two months when it matters most. Gas pressure falls sharply across Pakistani cities through December and January, and a weak burner flame simply cannot bring a full tank up to temperature.
The combo geyser costs more upfront and then behaves exactly like a gas geyser for most of the year, with a second route available whenever the first one fails. If you have ever spent a January morning waiting on a cold tank, that is what you are paying for.
Who the 25 gallon size suits
25 gallons comfortably serves a family of four to six people across two bathrooms, where showers are spread over the morning rather than all running at once. If your household has three bathrooms or regularly runs two showers simultaneously, the 35-gallon model is the better fit — an undersized tank runs cold partway through the morning and then has to reheat from scratch.
Running it on gas and electricity
The two heating systems are independent, and a power control selects which one is active. You can run the gas burner alone, the electric element alone, or both together for the quickest heat-up.
Gas is generally the cheaper fuel per unit of heat in Pakistan, so the sensible pattern is gas as the primary source with electricity held in reserve. Used that way, this geyser’s monthly running cost stays close to a gas-only unit — you are not paying an electricity premium for the flexibility, only for the hardware.
Once the tank reaches temperature, the insulation holds the heat, so normal use does not mean reheating from cold each time.
Build quality and safety
The inner tank is built from galvanized sheet rated to bear high pressure, inside a heat-proof metal body. The inner tank is the component that decides how long a geyser lasts — galvanized construction resists the corrosion caused by continuous contact with hot water, which is what eventually produces leaks in lower-grade units.
The geyser carries a safety valve and holds water at a maximum of 80°C. That ceiling is hot enough for any domestic purpose while staying below the temperature at which water scalds on contact, which is worth knowing in a household with young children.
Safe operation also depends on the installation. Use a qualified plumber and gas technician, confirm the gas connection is completely leak-free, and make sure the room is properly ventilated for the burner.
Installation
A full 25-gallon tank holds roughly 100 litres of water, so the unit needs a level, load-bearing position rather than a wall mount.
Three connections are required: water inlet and outlet, a gas line for the burner, and a 220V electrical point. If you are replacing an old gas-only geyser, the electrical point is usually the missing piece — there is often no socket near the existing position. Arranging it before the fitter arrives saves a second visit.
Maintenance
Flush the tank periodically to clear sediment, particularly in hard-water areas, since build-up reduces heating efficiency and strains the element. Have the gas burner and connections checked before each winter and the safety valve inspected once a year.
