The Sabro Electric + Gas Geyser 15 Gallons is a compact dual-power storage water heater priced at Rs. 39,499 in Pakistan. It holds around 60 litres and heats using either a gas burner or an electric element, making it the entry size in Sabro’s electric-plus-gas range and the most affordable way into a dual-fuel geyser.
What makes the 15 gallon size useful?
Space, cost and fuel flexibility in one unit.
A 15-gallon tank has a small enough footprint to fit the kind of positions that larger geysers cannot — a narrow bathroom, a kitchen corner, a flat with no dedicated utility space, a rented portion. It is also the cheapest model in the combo range, which matters if you are fitting out a rental property or a second bathroom rather than the main one.
And unlike a compact gas-only geyser, it keeps working in December and January. Gas pressure drops sharply across Pakistani cities in those weeks, and a small gas burner running on weak pressure produces very little usable hot water. The electric element covers exactly that gap.
Who should not buy the 15 gallon model
Worth being direct about, because undersizing a geyser is the most common mistake at this capacity.
15 gallons is not enough for a family of four or more, and it is not enough for two bathrooms. A tank this size gives you roughly one comfortable shower plus some kitchen use before it needs to reheat. If three or four people shower within the same hour, you will run cold partway through and then wait — which is a worse experience than buying the right size in the first place.
For a standard family with two bathrooms, the 25-gallon model is the correct choice. For a joint family or three bathrooms, go to 35 gallons.
Where the 15 gallon size fits well
- Couples and small families of two to three people
- Flats and apartments with one bathroom
- Rented portions and upper storeys
- A second bathroom or servant quarter where the main geyser does not reach
- Kitchen-only hot water supply
- Offices, clinics and small shops with a single washroom
Running on gas and electricity
The gas burner heats the tank from below and the electric element heats the water from inside. Both work independently, selected by a power control. Running them together gives the fastest heat-up — and on a tank this small, a combined heat-up is quick enough that you are rarely waiting long.
Gas is generally the cheaper fuel per unit of heat in Pakistan, so run the geyser on gas as the primary source and keep electricity as the backup for low-pressure weeks. Used this way, the running cost is close to a gas-only geyser of the same size.
Build and safety
The inner tank is galvanized and rated for high pressure, inside a heat-proof metal body. Galvanized construction resists the corrosion caused by constant contact with hot water, which is what produces leaks in cheaper tanks over time.
The unit carries a safety valve and holds water at a maximum of 80°C — sufficient for any household use and below the point where water scalds immediately on contact.
Have the geyser installed by a qualified plumber and gas technician, keep the gas connection leak-free, and make sure the space is ventilated for the burner. Ventilation deserves particular attention on a compact installation, since these units often end up in small, enclosed spaces.
Installation
Three connections are needed: water inlet and outlet, a gas line, and a 220V electrical point.
A filled 15-gallon tank weighs around 60 kg, so any bracket or wall mounting must go into genuinely load-bearing structure — have your fitter confirm this rather than assuming, since the compact size tempts people into weak positions. A stable, level floor or platform position is the safer default.
If you are replacing a gas-only geyser, check whether there is a power socket within reach. Most older gas geyser positions do not have one.
Maintenance
Flush the tank periodically to clear sediment, especially in hard-water areas. Have the gas burner and connections serviced before winter and the safety valve checked annually.
